Two-factor authentication is required for certain services of FernUniversität in Hagen.

In addition to your FernUni password, a One-Time Password (OTP) will be requested, which is generated for authentication purposes.
The OTP consists of six digits and is valid for only a short period (30 seconds).
It serves as an additional security factor, providing increased protection against phishing and hacking attempts.

One-Time Passwords can be generated using various methods, such as an app on your smartphone, for example, Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
If you already use an OTP app, you can continue using it.

To set up or register a 2FA token, you will need your master password.
This was sent to you by post. If you no longer have your master password, you can request a new one here: Request new master password

The following video demonstrates how to request a software token for generating One-Time Passwords and how to set it up on your smartphone.
